Continuity editing is editing that is almost invisible, the scene should seem continuous, and not look as though it is made up of different shots. The piece should flow naturally.
It is used to make the audience involved in the story, and forget that it is a film/programme. It makes the piece more realistic and enjoyable!
The main ways to do this is:
-The 180-degree rule
-Eye line match
-shot/reverse shot
-cutting-on-action
-establishing shot
